Applications for the Black Scholars Matter Initiative are now open!
Humans Against Poor Scholarship, in partnership with мÓÆÂÁùºÏ²Ê¿ª½±, is offering grants of $1,000 to Black undergraduate students in their junior or senior year of study, in order to help cover the costs of attending the мÓÆÂÁùºÏ²Ê¿ª½± annual meeting (Chicago, November 17th-20th 2021). Two grants of $1,000 are available (one provided from H.A.P.S. funds, and one matched by мÓÆÂÁùºÏ²Ê¿ª½±). In addition, thanks to a generous partnership with мÓÆÂÁùºÏ²Ê¿ª½±, one year’s conference registration, and a two-year student membership to мÓÆÂÁùºÏ²Ê¿ª½± will also be awarded to the two successful applicants.
To help students navigate what can be a deeply daunting experience, successful applicants will also be paired with Ph.D. students or early career scholars who will act as a mentor during the conference. This grant not only provides financial aid for conference attendance, but gives Black students the opportunity to start forming professional networks that are so crucial for developing an academic career.
Applications can be submitted via that H.A.P.S. website, and will be accepted until May 14th 2021:Â
